Katerina is a PhD candidate at IHB and based at the Schlieren site. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology and Technologies at University of Ioannina in Greece and her thesis focusing on bone cancer as a visiting student at Harokopio University of Athens. She continued with her Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Geneva. During her PhD studies, Katerina will work on modelling aspects of autoimmunity with in vitro organoid systems in collaboration with her academic supervisor Professor Caroline Ospelt, a rheumatology expert at the Center of Experimental Rheumatology, University of Zürich. Katerina will also contribute to IHB efforts to engineer the immune cycle in various existing models.
