Irina is a Scientist in the group Metabolic Homeostasis. She is interested in adipose tissue and its impact on whole body metabolism, in health and disease. During her PhD studies at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, she discovered sensory neurons in adipose tissue. She acquired expertise in tissue characterization, processing and imaging. Now, she is looking forward to developing an in vitro human model to investigate neuronal innervation in adipose tissue and its role in metabolic disease.
