Salem is an intern in the Organoid Engineering group and is working on microfluidic chip generation. Salem performed her undergraduate studies at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, and later received her Master’s from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology as part of a joint program. Her Master’s degree project was focused on the development of cerebral organoids from patient-derived and healthy iPSCs for neurodegenerative disease modelling, as well as for mitotoxicity, i.e.mitochondrial toxicity, testing.
